Willunga Physio Team

Physio for McLaren Vale, Aldinga & Willunga

Tom Anthoney

Principal Physiotherapist

Bachelor of Applied Science (Physio), Member Australian Physiotherapy Association

Tom is our most experienced Physio, that’s why we call him “old Tom”

Tom has been Practicing as a Physio since 1993. Yes that’s 30 years next year…”wow that went fast”

Tom is a Level II Sports Physio and has worked with numerous sporting teams
He has a Level 4 Clinical Pilates Qualification
Tom has been trained in the Watson Headache Method and has successfully helped over 1000 chronic headache sufferers. Tom is trained in “Dry Needling” and has used it with clients for nearly 20 years.

And Tom was the First Certified Ridgway Method Practitioner (RMCP) in South Australia!!

He utilises a ‘whole body’ approach – based on the Ridgway Method to assess injury and pain.
He doesn’t just focus on where it hurts, he looks for why it hurts.  His approach follows a ‘step by step checklist, which involves clients and is tailored to get their “good result” as fast as possible.

Once he has established the cause of a condition, he takes the time to explain it to clients

All clients then receive exercises and strategies to maintain improvements at home and in between sessions.

He uses lousy jokes in most sessions and is grateful when clients share gags with him.

When he’s not being a Physio, Tom is a father of two great kids -debatable :),  who he enjoys running and surfing with.
He enjoys gardening and travelling with his wife (and WP Business Manager) Sarah
Tom ran his first Full Marathon (42km Adelaide) in August 2021 and now has his eyes on a New York Marathon.

I’m Sarah and I have been working with Willunga Physiotherapy since its inception in 2008 in Willunga. Previously I Worked with Tom at Port Augusta Physiotherapy and Whyalla Physiotherapy.

Given the same last name you may work out I am married to Tom the Practice Owner. I have been the Business Manager for Tom since 2000.
I am a qualified Pharmacist (and though I am not working in Pharmacy currently) the skillset as a health professional has allowed me to work across all matters Covid over the last three years.

I am heavily involved in the NDIS services provided by our clinic utilizing my health professional understanding. I enjoy being part of the successful process of achieving NDIS Participants Goals.

I also like working with our people focussed Administration Team and our dedicated Physios to deliver excellence in customer service.

Outside of work I try not to listen to too many of Tom’s bad jokes – we get enough of them in the Clinic  🙂

I have been working with the team at Willunga Physio since 2009.  I have watched it grow over the years and have made great relationships with clients. I keep the day to day running of the practice going smoothly.
I am part of a great team, their care and attention to detail for each and every client is commendable.

I was honoured to received the Employee Award at the McLaren Vale Business Awards 2021.
Outside of work I am very family orientated. The quiz in the Advertiser on a Saturday morning is a 10am ritual via FaceTime with family around the world.  (I normally score, because I can rarely answer them!)

I have been with Willunga Physio for 2 years now. My main roll is greeting our amazing clients when they arrive, a quick covid screen and a little chat before they see our awesome physios. I also am the friendly voice behind the phone when you call to make appointments Tuesday-Thursday.
My most favourite part of work beside coffee time is building a relationship with our clients which some of you now feel like family 😊 I also enjoy most of Toms “dad jokes” and hearing all of yours! Keep them coming.

When I’m not at work I love making soy candles and hanging out with my two gorgeous children. We enjoy going for walks in the Aldinga scrub, taco night and donuts.

I have been working as a receptionist at Willunga Physio since the beginning of 2022. My main responsibilities involve all things client based such as admitting new clients and managing appointments. Every now and then I help out with some admin duties too. The thing I enjoy most about work is getting to know the clients through conversations before/after their appointments. It’s so great to have such a friendly client-base visiting our clinic.

Outside of working hours I am a full-time university student in my first year of physiotherapy. In my free time I enjoy playing netball and volleyball and regularly visit the beach for a swim or a walk.

I’m Fern and I have been working at Willunga Physio as a Masseur since early 2022. I am a long-time client of the clinic as Tom supported me with injuries and dance training goals throughout my teens. I reconnected with Tom in 2021 after returning from Perth where completed my Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Dance. As a new graduate moving back to the SA I was thrilled to except Tom’s offer to train up to be the clinic Masseur and began a relaxation massage course within the week!

My favourite part about working at Willunga physio is the wonderful clients that I get to know and form relationships with. I love meeting new people and having them become regulars who come in and have a friendly chat each session.

Outside of work I am still pursuing contemporary dance performance and learning aerial silks! I love my (almost) daily beach walk with ye dog and cosy nights reading a book with my cat.
